At the 2007 Book Design and Effectiveness Awards show sponsored by the Washington Book Publishers,three of the Press's recent publications received awards for typographic text in books published by small to medium sized nonprofit publishers. First place went to Captives and Their Saviors in the Medieval Crown of Aragon by Jarbel Rodriguez. Honorable mention went to two books: Becoming God: The Doctrine of Theosis in Nicholas of Cusa by Nancy J. Hudson and The Humble Story of Don Quixote: Reflections on the Birth of the Modern Novel by Cesareo Bandera. All three books were designed and typeset by Anne Kachergis ofKachergis Book Design, the longtime designer of all of the Press's books. (June 12, 2007)
Prof. Elizabeth Makowski is the 2007 winner of the History of Women Religious's Distinguished Book Award, given for an outstanding book on any aspect of the history of women religious since the organization's 2004 conference. According to the chair of the awards committee, "The committee found your work on 'Pernicious Women' deserving of recognition for its scholarship and importance of topic. The committee's decision was unanimous and enthusiastic." The book, "A Pernicious Sort of Woman": Quasi-religious Women and Canon Lawyers in the Later Middle Ages was published by The Catholic University of America Press in 2005. It is her third book.
The Press has received word that the Metaphysical Society of America has awarded its Findlay Prize to Oliva Blanchette, professor of philosophy at Boston College, for his book entitled Philosophy of Being: A Reconstructive Essay in Metaphysics, published by the Press in 2003. The process leading to the award was very selective. The Findlay Prize Committee examined books published in the field in the last five years, spent two years in reaching its decisions, and awarded the prize to only one other book.

The Institut superior de philosophie at the Catholic University of Louvian has awarded the Prix Mercier for 2005 to Nicholas Rescher for his book Scholastic Meditations. The book, a collection of essays published by Prof. Rescher over the course of his long and distinguished career, was published by The Catholic University of America Press in 2005.--11/15/2006
In order to make out-of-print books available once again, The Catholic University of America Press is utilizing digital technology to prepare paperback reprints of selected volumes. Many of the volumes in the Fathers of the Church series have been reprinted in this manner. If a volume is available in paperback, it will be so noted in the main entry for the volume, which can be accessed by author/title in the main catalog section of this site. Because these volumes are printed in small quantities, list prices that are usually associated with paperbound books printed by conventional means are not possible.
